Farplants won the Best Sales or Marketing Campaign at the inaugural Horticulture Week Business Awards. We also received a high commendation for our growth and innovation in the Wholesale Protected Ornamental Grower of the Year award.
The Best Sales or Marketing Campaign award is for our new Small Plants for Small Spaces range. The innovative new range is designed to modernise the promotion of a traditional alpine collection so gardening shoppers are inspired to make the most of their small spaces.

Range Innovation – Small Plants for Small Spaces
Small Plants for Small Spaces is the new concept for selling small hardy plants. Its targeted to appeal to the consumer limited by space but who still wants impact. It is the largest launch in the history of the group and the reserves far outstripped original projections.
The range includes over 200 different varieties, available from February through to June. Also, bold eye-catching branding and POS instantly communicates the benefits and the pick-up format encourages multiple purchases.
Andy Merrick, Head of Sales, was instrumental in the development of Small Plants for Small Spaces. He wanted to support retailers with a range that help boost sales for small hardy plants:
“Our aim is to give retailers the perfect collection and promotional materials to create a dedicated area to promote plants perfect for smaller garden spaces.
It has received a great reception with our garden centre customers and this award is the icing on the cake. It is fantastic recognition for all the hard work from the team.”
The high commendation in the Wholesale Protected Ornamental Grower of the year recognised our innovation and growth. Developments include:
- two brand new concept ranges
- over 50 plant exclusives
- 4.4% increase in turnover
- 68% increase in Christmas sales (November/December)
- investment in facilities and environmental management
We recently reported our best May in the history of the co-operative and this positivity has followed with a swathe of awards. We also recently won five plant awards at the HTA National Plant Show. This includes the visitor award for Best Herbaceous Perennial with Digitalis Firebird.
